چکیده

" Extraversion" and " introversion " are descriptive terms denoting two types of behavioural reaction and personality organization widely recognized and described in psychological literature (Guilford, 1934; Eysenck, 1953). "Extraverted behaviour " is characterized clinically by the outward expression of feelings and attitudes, in words; gestures, and acts, in a spontaneous and direct manner, little impeded by reflection, indecision, or reserve. The contrary, " introverted behaviour ", comprises a tendency to limit or moderate spontaneous outward expression, reflection, preoccupation, and rumination rather predominating. A reserved or even withdrawn attitude may be maintained. While individual people may be predominantly introverted or extraverted in their behaviour, fluctuation normally occurs from one form to the other. Introducing these types Jung (1923) writes: " But every individual possesses both mechanisms -extraversion as well as introversion-and only the relative predominance of the one or the other determines the type." (p. 10)

It has been shown to alter the normal electroencephalogram produci...

In contrast, memory functions were most often to be found only...

Hypnosis in Treatment of Neuroses Due to War and to Other Cavses

Although many authorities on war neuroses (Kardiner/ 1941; Miller, 1940) recommend the use of hypnosis in the treatment of early traumatic neuroses of war, one gains the impression from a survey of the recent literature on this subject that hypnosis is being little used in World War II. Instead, there appears to be an increasing tendency to use the barbiturate drugs, especially sodium amytal. I...

Screening selves: sciences of memory and identity on film, 1930-1960.

Chemicals that could be used scientifically to force an individual to tell the truth - dubbed truth sera - were first described in the early 1920s. Ever since, the notion of "truth drugs" has remained tenaciously within popular culture. One of the most important reasons for the survival of the notion of a pharmaceutical technology of authenticity was the role of the barbiturates sodium amytal a...
